an architectural portfolio

The practice of design, for me, has never been something that is limited within a drafting software. Long before I earned my Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon, I was in the shop: learning how materials want to move, how to develop my own systems, and the forethought necessary to execute sophisticated furniture projects. That understanding of the fabrication process has served as the foundation of my design approach. Every project I undertake, whether it is scripting a parametric joinery system in Grasshopper or laying out a  mass timber structural system for a high rise tower, addresses design as both an intellectual problem and a physical one.

My studio work at Oregon has driven me to engage in architecture with intention and consideration for the societal impacts of the built enviorment. I have been drawn to projects that carry weight beyond their program, where the responce to a genuine need stands as the guiding concept throughout design. The studio work I have chosen to feature here demonstrates this principal: a residential/higher education campus designed to serve those who face the steepest barriers to affordable housing; a literary complex rooted in Eugene's counter-cultural print history; a prefabricated emergency shelter system designed around dignity and community; a visitor center that educates the public on Frank Lloyd Wright's only Oregon project; and a climate resilient multifamily housing development on rural wildfire vulnerable land.
